I’ve recently discovered Dr Ellie. I wanted to try her gum as a starting point but couldn’t find it easily. I read in her comments section that the Swiss brand PÜR is also good and found it in a health food store. I wasn’t a big gum eater but stopped eating it because it gave me stomach aches which is probably the aspartame in it. PÜR doesn’t contain it so it was fine. Just Xylitol.

Xylitol is around $30 a pound delivered. Gum and toothpaste that I have has a lot of zylitol. Gum loses sweetness after twenty chews.

I wonder if chewing but not swallowing for the first five minutes or so would help those with digestive sensitivity to the xylitol. In other words let it do its work in the mouth but then spit, in an effort to protect the digestive biome.

Hi, American in Finland here. My husband is a retired Dentist here. Everyone chews some gum with Xylitol after meals. Or ay least they have been advice to do so. One of the major gum producers in the US blocked the knowledge of Xyitol. I forget which company it was but yes, my countrymen have been misslead.

Be aware that it is very toxic, even fatal, for dogs. Not sure about cats. Careful where you dispose of your gum.

I have using Spry dental products for years. They contain xylitol, but I did not regularly use them. When I felt a cold coming on I would gargle with Spry oral rinse and 90% of the time would stop the sore throat from progressing into sinus infection
